According to the BBC vitamins don't work 😉

Oh and clearly everyone in the UK is good at making vitamin D....

If that's the programme just finished, I noticed she wasn't taking them with food or liquid. I've heard that taking them on their own is a waste, as they are best absorbed with food.

There must also be a difference between taking them if you need them and taking them if you don't need them.

Yep agreed apart from iron they all best taken with food.

Also she took them for two weeks which isn't enough time to raise levels of soluble vitamins.

Thanks rhsana,

I've made a note of them and from tomorrow my new schedule starts. I tend to take them all at once after breakfast! Be interesting to see if I can tell a difference. Thanks for posting. :-)

But that schedule doesn't fit with taking thyroid medication. A recent post suggested that iron, calcium and Vit D should be taken 4 hrs away from thyroid medication, and most others should be 2 hours away.

What time do you take your thyroid medication?

As I take NDT in split doses most of my supplements have moved to being taken with the evening meal.

I take a first dose of NDT at 6 am two hours before breakfast and morning supplements. I then take the second dose at 12pm. NB* I don't take Iron or Calcium.

I take levo when I go to bed. I use a magnesium oil spray on my feet to help me sleep, so hopefully won't be a problem. I suppose I could take the levo 2 hours before bed.

They are the "best" times but you will still increase your levels if you take them at other times.

Iron is the big problem as it interacts with so many things and also causes bowel problems which means it affects the absorption of everything.

So you take probiotics at night on an empty stomach before meals! How does that work?

I take vit c with levo, the rest as recommended by the supplier with a meal that includes fat. So main meal.

I just watched it. Can't believe the nutritionist was recommending low fat as the healthy option.

The worst one was the detox experiment where the detox group had better skin and double the number of bowel movements and were then told there was no benefit! I'd say regular BMs and better skin are very positive outcomes! This despite the fact that this group was given sugary drinks instead of healthy fats and nutritious carbs. They had some side effects which was probably gluten withdrawal. What a rubbish experiment and conclusion.
