When you say you have changing results, do you have any previous results you can post?

TSH 3.9 (0.3-5.0)

FT4 11 (9.0-19.0)

FT3 4.5 (3.25-6.21)

Those results are all in range and your GP is unlikely to diagnose hypothyroidism or prescribe levo. However, if you have any previous results and they have been outside the ranges, particularly a high TSH, then swinging results can be a result of autoimmune antibodies and would point to Hashimoto's aka autoimmune thyroid disease.

I have previous results, but can't lay my hands on them at the moment I'm seeing a haemotologist weds so maybe I can ask for antibody tests.Thanks.

LL,

Ask your GP to test thyroid antibodies TPOAb & TGAb. Also Vit B12, Vit D, folate and ferritin as deficiencies in this are common in people with thyroid and other health issues.

Post results complete with ranges (numbers in brackets) for members to comment. A doctors "normal" may not be a level that members have found to be most beneficial to their thyroid function.

Hi vit d was 30 so I'm now supplementing, ferritin was 30ug/l & folate was 4.5ug/l so all in the low (normal)ranges.I was feeling awful so started taking b12 two weeks before testing so probably had a false result of 650 ng/l & also know the serum test doesn't mean much as it may not be being utilised. They did the active MMA test last week but will also be skewed due to supplements so will just see what the haemotologist says on weds & will push for a full thyroid panel. If not I guess the only option will be to pay private but I know my dr is not keen on this idea & won't be interested in viewing results. Thanks for reply☺
