Actually it's not so much pain as discomfort but I'm constantly aware of a glandy, slightly burning sensation in my thyroid area and in the sides of my neck. It feels like my neck is swollen but when I look in the mirror it doesn't really show unless I look down. I also have a dry feeling as though I've just swallowed a bit of apple skin which makes me clear my throat every now and then. I started on 50mg levothyroxine for 'subclinical' hypothyroidism about two months ago and it has helped in that I am not feeling quite as tired as I was and my TSH is now back to normal.
My question is should I be worried and go back to my gp or is this just a side effect of the meds which I have to put up with?

Your thyroid gland is probably enlarged due to high TSH flogging it to produce hormone not due to Levothyroxine. The swelling and discomfort should ease in time.
