Hi all, I'm so unsure which route to follow out of the above 3, I've been taking NDT for just about 2 years now, I've been trying to raise my Vit D3, also my folate, I'm taking D3, K2, B2, magnesium, selenium, and I'm on 2 grains of NDT, I've not done well on NDT even though I've changed brands to see if that made a difference but it didn't, my doctor after showing him the results above said, my anti bodies are fine and that them being raised goes hand in hand with being hypo ! Has taken no notice of the raised CRP and I now find myself with swollen painful joints and chronic low back pain, he is sending me for an X-Ray, I'm in a position of being unable to get about due to pain, so guess what my doctor is treating me for ? Depression !!! I said I'm only feeling so low as I feel so unwell, I've asked if I can try T3/T4 combo, but been refused, and unsure where to get any T3, if anyone has a link I could have please I would appreciate it very much, I think it has to be private messaged to me, I've gone from someone that had ocd tendencies to someone who can't function, I do have other ailments which gets the blame for how I'm feeling, ( Copd, osteoporosis, & osteoartritis) all these things I've gained since hypothyroidism being diagnosed some 12+ years ago, I was put on levo starting at 25mg it just kept going up & up until I reached 250mg at which point I had had enough, started doing my own research etc and took the NDT route, maybe it's just not for me, but I just don't know what to do anymore or what to take, oh I went gluten free and also gave up all dairy, any help very much appreciated, really do feel like I've reached the end.
So unsure what route to follow, NDT, T3/T4 comb... - Thyroid UK
So unsure what route to follow, NDT, T3/T4 combo or try levo again ?!
Valmac,
CRP and elevated ferritin can indicate inflammation somewhere in the body. Perhaps your GP should do a full blood count to rule out infection.
There is scope to increase NDT dose to raise FT4 and FT3 to see whether symptoms improve.
You are clearly not taking sufficient D3. Try 5,000iu daily for 4-6 months then retest. Take D3 with the fattiest meal of the day to aid absorption and at lease 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.
B12 is optimal around 1000*. Supplement methylcobalamin 1,000mcg and take a B Complex vitamin.
*Edited: 100 to 1000.

Thank you clutter, I've increased my NDT by a quarter to see how that goes, also sent off for a private blood test to do full blood count and other things such as liver, kidneys and arthritis, which I believe has worsened ( osteoartritis I have) upped my D3 to 5,000iu, I'm confused about the B12 is mine to high then clutter ? Again thank you, 😊
Ps I had to go look at the blood test I'm having, it's also for cholesterol, I'm sending the bloodctest off tomorrow Clutter, if it's ok I will put my results on here, I have them done private a couple of times a year, my doctor only tests the tsh & t4 😊
