Lipolife Liposomal Curcumin?

Has anyone tried Lipolife Liposomal Curcumin? I've just started taking it today. I've heard great things about it and am hoping it will help with my back and joint pain. If anyone else has tried it I'd be grateful to hear what your experience has been.

Thanks! :-)

Will follow your post with interest kym46 . I've been mixing turmeric in my veggie smoothies but haven't felt great benefits yet but it's still early days.

Butterfly65   I have this vague recollection that, in order to 'activate' the curcumin in turmeric you need to fry it for something  like 20 minutes  You also need to add black pepper as the piperine in the pepper makes it more readily available.  Sorry too tired to trundle off looking for the link but if you search for 'does turmeric need to be cooked to be effective' or something like that you should get the info you need

Hi Linlow... thanks for the info. I did do some research before ordering it and also read about the black pepper. I also read that taking a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil helps in a similar way, although I'm not sure this is true. I am trying it.

I always feel a bit nervous taking things that aren't mainstream. However, I'm desperate to try something instead of NSAIDs. I've read so much about the damage they can cause and over the years have had terrible stomach issues.

Yesterday was my first day of taking the curcumin. I had slightly less pain during the night and also feel less this morning. However, this may be all in my head at this point (although it doesn't really matter if it makes me feel better I say! ;-)

So early days yet and I'm not convinced. I'll see how it goes and keep everyone posted.

Thanks

Kim :-)

Hi kym46 sorry, I wasn't suggesting you do some research, I commented because Butterfly65 mentioned turmeric rather than curcumin.  I had logged on to to look for something else and HealthUnlocked popped your curcumin post under my nose.  Since turmeric needs a bit of fiddling with to get the best out of it I thought I would mention that on the way past.

Never take anything at face value but if your head is telling you that you are in less pain and had a better night I'd go with the head ;)  Good luck for the future.

Hi Butterfly65, I'll keep you updated. Turmeric is a bit different from the Cucumin from what I've read...

"A typical turmeric root contains about 2-5% curcumin, so taking an unstandardized, powdered turmeric root product means that very large amounts would be required to get a beneficial amount of curcumin. Additionally, curcumin is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. While turmeric is excellent when used as a spice, a curcumin extract is a better choice for health benefits."

I did have less pain last night and this morning but it may all be acting like a placebo. Hopefully not... but it will take a month before I'll really know if it's actually helping. I'm taking it with extra virgin olive oil as I've read this also helps the system absorb it... not sure it's true but we'll see.

Kim :-)

I have been drinking turmeric tea and find I am more alert and my memory better when I take it.

Hidden  do you prepare the turmeric in any way or just add it to boiling water?

in reply to linlow

I add boiling water to it with a slice of lemon.

I put a tablespoon of turmeric in my smoothie every morning along with black pepper, coconut oil and flaxseed oil. I used to have terrible joint pain in my knees and ankles. No more. But I also removed grains and dairy from my diet and switched to NDT around the same time. But no more pain, or migraines, lost 12kg and brain fog was gone.

That's great news! I wonder if curcumin is even better... as they say. If turmeric works just as well it would be a lot cheaper and easier to work into meals.

I also cut gluten out of my diet a few years ago which has really helped me... however I still suffer from migraines and back/joint pain. I don't have a weight problem but was very weak so I've been seeing a personal trainer for the past month. That's also really helping me.

I know food/exercise is key but I'm hoping the curcumin will give me some relief from pain. As I'm sure everyone would agree, it's hard to feel motivated and to do anything when you're body aches all over! :-)

capsules serve 2 purposes - they mean you (the buyer) don't have to get the grater out and they (the producer/shopkeeper) can make money ;)  Since you want an concentrated dose of curcumin that is fine.  Once you have convinced yourself that they work and are pain-free you could try the root and see if it is as good - you'd soon know.

For your migraines, have you looked into feverfew at all?  Mine got so bad I was suffering 5-6 days a week but they gradually disappeared, when I treated them with the herb, so nowadays I think I am badly done to if I get 1 a year.

It is amazing how powerful a change in diet can be too, as I found out when I changed mine and totally reversed arthritis.  Exercise is definitely good but getting the basic diet right is more important.

I've not received any capsules... it's in liquid form but I'm sure it's just the same. I'll just have to experiment. Thanks for the tip re feverfew... I'll have to try that! My migraines used to be much worse too. They have improved but I still get them at least once a month (which is nothing compared to what they used to be so I shouldn't complain!!)

I'm very up on the diet. I'm gluten free and am very careful what I eat. I never eat processed food or junk food of any kind... still to organic fruit and veg... bone broth and organic meat. It has really helped me over the past couple of years.

Turmeric can also be used for migraine relief so maybe some of that efficacy lies in the curcumin and you will cure 2 birds with 1 stone.

Don't forget to come back and let everyone know how well the liquid works once you have made up your mind :)

I just came across the second site below whilst looking for something else so came rushing back to paste here for others interested in the 150 or more benefits of turmeric/curcumin - then thought I'd better find the other to balance it out ;)

turmericforhealth.com/turme... explains the benefits of fresh turmeric as opposed to processed.

articles.mercola.com/sites/... explains how to use curcumin therapeutically and gives 3 three alternative recipes to raise bioavailablity

ALWAYS check the precautions, even of natural foods, before adding something new to your diet.  Amongst everything else Turmeric acts as a blood thinner so stop taking it if you are expecting to go in for an operation.

Hi all... I have just realised that the curcumin I ordered has soy in it. From what I understand this is definitely not good for the thyroid! I'm so annoyed I didn't notice this sooner as it was so expensive. I'm not going to give up. I'm going to try a different brand. Will keep you all updated. Unfortunately, today I have a bad headache... :-(

I’ve been taking turmeric for many years and found that it works great. I take a teaspoon of it, mix it with olive oil and orange juice. I even add some black pepper for better absorption of turmeric to the body. Other way I take it is by stirring a teaspoon of whole ground turmeric into hot water and drinking as a tea or including it in food. It’s pretty difficult to get whole turmeric. I buy it from horton spice mills ( hortonspicemills.com/listin... ).
