Fed up with doctors. Need to rant.

Felt rough last week so managed to get an appointment with a gp today, never seen him before and don't think I will again.

I've been on T3 for a few years now and basically feeling a lot better. However  Thought I would ask if my symptoms were thyroid related. I wrote a list but first asked him, if he could tell me what the physio had written at the beginning of the year. (she had said that I was 80% better. Although she told me I had plateaued and needed further treatment.) Then we talked about my difficulty with gluten and G/F breads.

I think he was getting fed up with me by then and didn't want to know what else I had to say. Told me to write a list, well that was in my hand.

Turns out he's a T4 man and wants to reintroduce T4 and reduce T3, been there before with other symptoms but he really wasn't interest and said it was too much for a ten minutes consultation.

I've been trying to get this sorted out for four years at least. So fed up.

Oh beaton beware and cave !

There are lots of stories on this forum of people being 'encouraged' off T3 just lately - some NHS CCGs are all but withdrawing GPs the opportunity to continue to prescribe it.  Tread very carefully would be my advice.

Good luck

GPs don't do the best for their patients but the best due to NHS budget constraints and their knowledge. Some GPs have more limited knowledge  than others.

T3 costs loads and the rubbish they are fed means they think it's enough for those who have thyroid issues.

So yes you have a right to be fed up and completely  ****** of.

Beaton, did you ever have your B12 tested?

I believe it was tested about 6 months ago but never got the result. Might ask for them when I ring for bloods done this week.

Would be a good idea - if low, it might be why you're struggling to find the right dose of thyroid hormones.
