Sorry Vici - we'll need ranges for the samples. And what was the Vit B12 result?

This is a good article about cortisol and a suggestion of a supplement.

Hello

Vit B12 411   ref range 187-883

Folate 6.2      ref range 2.3-17.6

Hi Vici, well, your B12 and folate are a bit low. They're in range, but not optimal. Optimal for B12 is 1000, despite what the silly range says.

If l were you, l would supplement with 1000 mcg sublingual methylcobalamine daily, with a good B complex. If you get one with methylfolate, rather than folic acid, it should bring your folate up nicely.

I've told my daughter to go to GP get thyroid test again and show the Genova private test results.

She has endo appt June, lots of nodules on thyroid.

The only thing I know about adrenals is that big doses of Vitamin C can be a good idea. Not so sure about adaptogens like rhodiola And Ashwaganda - hopefully someone will pitch in with a suggestion soon.

That B12 level could do with being a touch higher - anything under 500 is deficient (despite what the lab range says).

Hi Jazzw,

What do you think is a big dose of Vit C?

Well... :)

I've been reading lots about Vit C recently. Linus Pauling, a double Nobel prize winner, was ridiculed for suggesting that large amounts of Vit C could cure all manner of things. But could that be because Big Pharma couldn't make any money out of it??

I think, given what I'm slowly learning about modern diet and illnesses that affect gut absorption, we could probably all do with more Vit C. Some people take 20g a day - that's 20 high strength 1000mg tablets.

This site reckons between 2-4g a day naturalnews.com/029842_vita...

If you take too much, your bowels get loose. Makes you wonder why anyone takes Senna and bisocodyl when a few too many Vit C tablets do the job brilliantly. :)

Exactly right. I'm taking 1000mg daily but I watched the Vitamin video that was recommended here a few days ago and would take more if needed.

I will take loose bowels anyday over constipation.

Yes all of them only a few weeks. So really it's early days, I am feeling a bit better so they probably are doing their job, just need time.

I started taking Selenium early Feb and added Vit D a few weeks later.

As you say it takes time.

And Don't forget the salt! Adrenals need salt. Too many people are cutting back too far on salt, these days. I dread to think what the future holds for all those on low-salt diets!

Mind you, having said that, people who live on processed food get plenty of salt, but it's the wrong type. What you need is sea salt or pink Himalayan, not processed table salt.

She'been taking himalyan salt water with lime juice in water nearly every morning for 1 year.

Maybe she should take more since she's so active

Thanks 👍

That's great. She shouldn't be low in salt, then. :)

in reply toJazzw

Thanks 👍

You could try phosphatidylserone (PS).  You do not need a prescription and studies have shown that it lowers cortisol.  I have too high morning cortisol that becomes too low in the evening.  I have found that PS helps.  Last night I slept right through without waking around 3am.
