Hi, I have already had the BH kit for the plus 11 test.. Is it ok to have the test at 12.35 approx as that's the earliest I can get Tues? can you eat before? Any tips for the best results would be appreciated cheers.. Jo 😊

Hi , scorpiojo  the general advice is usually 'on a fasting stomach' meaning no food/drink only water. I'm not sure if it would be okay to maybe have a coffee early morning, seeing as though the test is late, but the emptier your stomach the better :)

What do BH say about testing?

BTW if you want the Reverse T3 it is £139 and blood sample has to be drawn. THat is the Plus 12 test though.

Thanks I'm going to change it so I have the clearest view I hope... 😊

You might not have an accurate number for the TSH at that time. It could mean the difference between being diagnosed or not:

I'm already diagnosed just want the B12 D thing looked at by everyone as taking 11plus test plus any recommendations for dose of T3 etc... I'll change it and either wait in general line or wait until Wednesday week 8.40 as this weeks online early s all gone, and BH said best not to test late week as your sample isn't going to be received or looked at until Monday... Thanks for all the advice 😊 Jo

Scorpiojo,

If you are trying to get a diagnosis or dose increase you should have an early morning and fasting (water only) blood test when TSH is highest.  Levothyroxine should be taken after the blood draw.  TSH will be lowest during the afternoon.  See the graph in the link below.  Perhaps you could cancel Tuesday's phlebotomy appt and reschedule an early morning appt.

Hi I have been diagnosed with sunbclinical hyperthyroidism. My tsh was 0.16 T4 16.5, TPOAS less than 33 I have 20 nodules on the thyroid too.

Can someone please advise the best time of day for repeat thyroid screening with BH? I remain untreated!

SisterFlorence,

The advice to test early and to fast is for hypothyroid patients who need to show high TSH for diagnosis or dose increase.

I don't think there is an optimum time for hyperthyroid patients to test but it is a good idea to test at the same time of day every time you test for consistency.

I may go and have it and wait in the queue rather than wait until Wednesday week!! I've gone online and Monday the 1st is blanked out and Tuesday mid day again.. Grr good job I asked as I was going to meet my friend and have something to eat catch up and then go this Tue at 12.35... I have the diagnosis I just want to get an idea of what numbers I have and what dose will be better... T3 @ 20mcg is not making me feel the best I can be. Out of 10 I feel a 4 in the scale of things. Coming from beyond zero that's going the right way.. So I have the kit know I need early no food... Thanks all... Jo 😊
