Help with blood test results please.

Can someone please advise on my blood test results? My last test was in June from my doctors when my TSH was 0.61 same ranges as this test. Since then I started on Omeprazole 10 mg a day although I haven’t taken every day on maybe twice a week if that. My tests over the year have fluctuated somewhat. Any help would be appreciated please.

How do you feel? Are you on thyroid meds?

Personally I like my free T4 and free T3 to be MUCH higher in range - yours are only 37% and 17% respectively - while top third or top quartile of the range is usually much better. And TSH is too high - you really want this to be less than 2, probably less than 1. So if you are on levo, I'd suggest you need a dose increase (25 mcg), retest in 6 - 8 weeks, and test again.

If you are not on thyroid medication your GP will say these are all in range, and show you out. You will only be treated when TSH is waaaay over range.

PS vit D looks a bit low - you really want this over 100.

Thanks for replying.

Been on Levo for 30 years but the last 5 has gone a bit haywire. I have had Vit D deficiency before but can’t tolerate the tablets unfortunately. I have increased dose from 75 to 100 mcg as from today.

Results clearly show you are under medicated

Will need bloods retested in 6-10 weeks time

B12 and folate both low

Might benefit from taking good quality daily vitamin B complex

one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial.

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Igennus Super B is good quality and cheap vitamin B complex. Contains folate. Full dose is two tablets per day. Many/most people may only need one tablet per day. Certainly only start on one per day (or even half tablet per day for first couple of weeks)

Or Thorne Basic B or jarrow B-right are other options that contain folate, but both are large capsules

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Low B12 symptoms

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

With such low B12 result taking a B12 supplement and a B Complex (to balance all the B vitamins) initially for first 2-4 months, then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function. There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7

Thanks for your help I have ordered all as suggested. No point speaking to the doctor as they (a) are not open! and (b) don’t understand.

Omeprazole is to treat high stomach acid

Most hypothyroid patients have low stomach acid

Virtually identical symptoms, but very different treatments

Low stomach acid is even more misdiagnosed that hypothyroid

You should see stomach acid improve on higher dose levothyroxine

Low stomach acid is a very common hypothyroid issue

I did but has same effect. I have read your profile and am considering gluten free diet. A friend of mine did this too, she said it helped a great deal. I am taking a PPI but only occasionally. The more Levo seems to spark off acid. I will get a vitamin D test to see where it is. Thanks so much for your help. I think I am a lost cause 🙄.
