Thyroid blood tests and viruses

Does anyone know if having a virus can affect tsh and t4 blood test results?

A virus or infection can elevate TSH and lower FT4 which is why the first abnormal TSH result is often not treated and the patient is requested to retest a few weeks later when any virus or infection is expected to have cleared.
