Out of date Eltroxin

I have some Eltroxin that is about 5 months old.  Other than it may not be so effective, does anyone know if it would be dangerous to use?

No, not dangerous I wouldn't have said. And possibly not much less effective, so long as it's been stored somewhere cool and dark.

If it'd been a couple of years out of date, it might be less effective - but possibly not. I'm always deeply sceptical of use by dates.

A lot of drugs  were tested by the military and it was found that 90% of them are still ok 15 years out if date......   Here's the link... health.harvard.edu/staying-...

So the thyroid meds are probably fine.      If they aren't you would feel hypo, so you would soon know.....

Trying to make sure I understand:

You are in the UK.

You have Eltroxin that is about 5 months old.

Eltroxin hasn't been available for some years in the UK - is this from when it was available? Or from Ireland? Or one of the other products called Eltroxin such as by Aspen or GSK? And do you mean that you yourself have had it for 5 months? Or that its expiry date wad 5 months ago?

The answer is probably the same regardless! No-one can know for sure but if it has been stored in the dark, in the dry and at a moderate temperature (e.g. rarely over 20 degrees), it is likely to be OK.
