Thybon out of date

I have a box of Thybon Hennig that is use by August 2021 do you think it’s safe to use ?

I have a private prescription so will be easier to obtain than the Unipharma I am current using and wanted to try it again and will buy some more if it suits me .

It’s been stored in a cupboard away from heat.

TIA

I would think it will still be o.k. to take as at one time there never used to be a 'use by date' on prescription products. If you did develop unusual symptoms you can stop taking it.

I've taken thyroid hormones much older than that and still found them helpful.

That’s so kind of you 🤞🏻Just scared to rock the boat , will give it a few weeks then swap , it’s scary how one pill can make you feel and my levels are good , at the moment but lots of muscle and joint pain , but really need to try it again maybe it will be better for me ? x

It’s interesting that you say you have muscle and joint pain on Uni Pharma. I took it for a while and, although my hypo symptoms were much better, I developed really bad joint pain. When I stopped taking it, the joint pain disappeared. If it was me, I would swap now before starting your job, that way you’ll know if it’s the Uni Pharma causing your problems.

Good luck with your new job.

Thank you , I have deep down thought that T3 has something to do with it, but I guess I just have to try or I will never know I will take it tomorrow 🤞🏻

Please let me know if it turns out to be the Uni Pharma causing your joint pain. No one seems to believe me ☹️

Nobody believed me when I told them Teva Levo (just 1 weeks worth) caused my nose to haemorrhage and scared me to death. Blood coming out in a stream for over an hour and then several smaller bleeds over the next few days. It was the Teva. Never had a nosebleed before, and not really since, except I have a tiny vessel that can open if I blow my nose too hard, but it doesn't do much and I'm on an anticoagulant now.

I raised a yellow card against the product.

It’s awful isn’t it. I get “so and so” is taking that and they’re fine. Blah blah blah 😕

Hi Gingernut44 well my experiment with Thybon has come to an end , it made my teeth hurt which was a very weird , sensitive teeth and gums and my front teeth ached I’ve never had that before and I developed a really bad left eye lid twitching sideways which I had once when my endocrinologist reduced my T4 and both my levels dropped dramatically, as I am only on 6.25 mcg Unipharma in the morning with my100mcg thyroxine I swapped to 5mcg and then increased to 7.5mcg , on an afternoon I had a feeling of extreme tiredness and an anxious feeling, I think my joint pain was a bit better though , I swapped back to Unipharma on Wednesday and the twitching has stopped, teeth back to normal and the tiredness& anxious feeling has gone 🤷🏼‍♀️Nothing else changed other than swapping brand 🤔

Just read some of your posts did you stick with Thybon ?

No, unfortunately I had a bad reaction to it immediately after taking my first dose. I took it at bedtime and woke up three times in the night with terrible cramp in my lower legs and ankles. I spent most of the night stomping around the bedroom trying to get rid of it and the next day my feet and ankles looked as if someone had taken a bicycle pump and blown them up 😂 when I read the PIL (online as I didn’t get one with the tablets) it was noted as an allergic reaction so it isn’t just me .Have you taken Thybon before or is this your first time. If you haven’t taken them before, I would definitely try them before starting your new job just in case.

I just get awful side effects from just about every thing I try. I’m currently taking Erfa but not sure they’re doing me any good but I’m not giving up until I’ve tried everything available as my FT3 has always been low.

Let me know how it goes.

I tried it last year for a couple of weeks as my nhs endocrinologist gives me a private prescription, just remember feeling not as good so switched back to Unipharma. The muscle & joint pain has been pretty constant - so agree will give it a go while I’m still at home, I do react quickly to changes so will definitely let you know 🤞

Yes, please do. Have you tried Tiromel. I’ve got some of those you could try if you like. I couldn’t take those either. This is costing me a fortune 😂

Simplyred57 profile image
Simplyred57 in reply to Gingernut44

Ah that’s very kind of you , but Tiromel was the 1st one I tried and had a very bad reaction 3 day migraine within hours of taking it , and blood vessel in by eye burst , so yes I’m super sensitive too 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Gingernut44 profile image
Gingernut44 in reply to Simplyred57

Oh no, Tiromel made me wheezy, tried it twice on two different occasions just to make sure it was actually the Tiromel causing it and yes it was. What are we going to do 🤔

I’ve even tried Teva T3 which cost me £220 for 28 tablets, took them for just over a week and couldn’t tolerate them either ☹️

It is appalling that people should find themselves in this position.... utterly disgraceful. T3 is vital for some people - period - them punish to 'hang onto their failed notions'. xox

Request your GP to test both Free T3 and Free T4.

I’ve just had them done , will ask my endocrinologist to re test them in 6 weeks.

How much did you take?

No problem with taking it even after years. It MIGHT loose some part of its effect after years, but definitely nor when expired August 2021. I have a full drawer of thyroid meds.

I have used levo over one year past best before date with no problems at all. I should think the same applies to lio.
