Scorpiojo, none of us knew any of this stuff until we were forced to learn it because we were unwell. Natural Dessicated Thyroid (NDT) is a combination of T4 and T3 derived from whole pig thyroid. Armour, NatureThroid, WP, NP, Erfa, Thyroid-S and Thiroyd are all brands of NDT.

Some people respond very quickly to T3 and feel improvement within a week but it will take several weeks for most and may take months for others.

Thanks for that.. Pig thyroid.. I wished I'd never asked lol... Funny, I have been told I'm allergic to Estrogen as it makes me itch.. When I looked at it and saw it was made of horses urine it made sense!! I'm suffering both at same time and sleep seems rare :(( I'm also only on 20mg of the t3 lio but was to take 100mg of levo.. Can't understand why she's given me the levo it's not done anything fab so far 7 yrs.. And I am concerned the t3 seems low in comparison to some on here.. I just want to feel my age not 150 and tired all the time.. Thanks again for info :))

Scorpiojo, do you mean you are taking 20mcg T3 as well as 100mcg Levothyroxine or instead of?

pig thyroid was the only treatment for nearly 100 years before synthetic T4 was produced.

Hi! Last October 2015, I was tested and my Thyroud levels were almost nonexistent. I was given Armour and Levo. The milligrams were low as doc said we had to go slow. In December I was bumped up to 50 milligram for one and 60 milligram for another. I realize y'all use the term "gram". I live in US. Doc pulled new blood test and I was only 50% of where it should be. I went to see her in March and she sent me for new blood test. I haven't had it yet, made an appointment , but can't get in until the 28th of this month. Only 50% of proper levels. It takes awhile to get there. Second, I go for Bioidentical Hormones from my GYN. Again, she sent me for blood test to see how my levels were after 2 months. I was still very low in Estrogen and Testerone. I get pellets inserted into my upper buttocks. I don't get "horse urine", I get Estrodial, synthetic, same with testerone. I take Progestrone in capsule form at night. I don't know if my body eats these medicines or what. However, both doc's have started me on low doses and add more after each blood test. Best of luck.,
