Help!

Help! Does this sound like tyroid... I have been feeling overly exhausted recently wake up and feel like i could go back to sleep again! I also keep getting a fuzzy brain and just dont feel myself i have always been cold and my nails and very brittle and keep flaking and as for my hair the ends of them are awful. My periods have always been pretty heavy. I just want to feel normal have been feeling like this for weeks now! Also have the urge to eat so much food recently ! I have a blood test on wed! But just wondered if this sounds alot like tyroid probelms ! Hope someone could help!

Ask your GP to do a thyroid function test which should be booked early in the morning when TSH is highest and fast (water only) because TSH drops after eating and drinking. Ask for ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate blood tests to be done too.

Ask for a printout of the results and ranges (figures in brackets after results) and post them in a new question for advice.

Please make sure you get Vitamin B12, Folate and Vitamin D tested.

Post your results on here with the ranges for members to comment.

Meanwhile look at the Pernicious Anaemia Society -PAS- within HU and read up on symptoms for B12 deficiency.

So yes lilchar2424 it could be thyroid or B12 def.

You can ask for printouts of your blood results. They belong to you and you are entitled to them for your own records.
