B12 result 100
Ok, I can see it now. How does hubby feel G.
There are a few levels low like Ferritin, B12 and Folate. I'm hoping his GP will offer B12 injections. My level was 120 and I got a loading dose -as it is termed -
3 injections on week one and 3 injections in week 2.
Supplements for Folate/Methylfolate should get levels up fairly soon. Has he pains in his joints or pins/needles or numbness?

He feels dreadful .... Tired beyond belief
Thought he would have a lot of symptoms and feel terrible.
He will be grand when he get B12 and other supplements. Read up as much as you can on the PAS forum so you/he knows the correct
Treatment to get from your GP.
Or ask any questions anytime.

Ps; as secondchance says, see the GP first.
So many illnesses can be similar to a deficiency of b12. Your doctor should check the intrinsic factor to see if husband has Pernicious Anaemia. On this forum it is recommended that B12 be around 1,000. We supplement on sublingual B12 methylcobalamin but your husband should have the intrinsic factor tested and be given injections. Once our mylelin sheath is damaged (wraps around our nerve fibers ) they cannot be repaired.
Multiple Sclerosis, neurological symptoms, dementia can all be due to low B12.
B12 and folate are both low so this requires treatment. If he has neurological symptoms he needs alternate day B12 injections until no further improvement then min 2 monthly maintenance plus folic acid 5mg. If he has anaemia then 6 loading doses and 3 monthly maintenance. Search BCSH guidelines. He should also have intrinsic factor and gastric parental antibodies tested. I presume he eats a normal diet? Vegans can get B12 deficiency but this can be corrected by oral supplements in the long term.
Try joining pernicious anaemia society forum for more advice.
He is not vegan or vegetarian in fact far from it x
I think that's the lowest B12 result I've seen on here in some time.
With such a low ferritin too, there's either a major gut absorption problem - perhaps something like Coeliac Disease - or he has pernicious anaemia. Both need testing as a matter of urgency - I wouldn't start supplementing either yet, not until tests are done.
I agree with jazzw that ferritin is chronically low and will be giving symptoms of tiredness. Low ferritin/iron can be the only silent symptom of coeliac. That's what happened to me. If he does take iron supplements and ferritin doesn't raise then ask doctor to test for gut absorption problem/coeliac

Please read the above link which will tell you about the other tests that are required - as well as everything else you will need to know about B12 Deficiency. Anything below B12 is a neurological condition if left undiagnosed or untreated.....
Take a look at the heading Films on the Menu - on the link above - and watch the second one down. There is a Doc talking who has B12 deficiency and his quote resonates well - What your Doc doesn't know about B12 will harm you.....
