Could both organic canola and organic unferment... - Thyroid UK
Could both organic canola and organic unfermented soy be completely unfit to eat?
Thanks GreyGoose!
I never use canola, & ditched 10l of organic soya milk from my fridge & freezer.
Is miso still bad for hypo's, or am I ok to eat it a few times a week, for B12?
Mel
Miso is fermented but not a source of B12. Check nutritiondata.com. You'd have to eat 100 grams (3 ounces) of miso to obtain 1% of your nutritional requirements for B12.
Best to take a supplement if your diet is deficient.
Thanks Gabkad!
It must be a great (veggie) urban myth, that miso is high in all B's.
I eat kefir every day, & a few other things with B12 in, but wasn't sure if miso is as bad as other soya products, for blocking thyroid hormones.

500 ml of kefir per day, consistently, will provide enough B12. Not sure if it would result in 'optimal' though. You'd need to get tested to find out.
Just checked a few websites, & B12 is definitely mentioned,
My pre-kefir/dairy free B12 level was ok, so should be better now.
I quite like miso, & think it's good to get nutrients from more than one source, but will avoid it if it'll have an effect on NDT absorption. Might not be such a bad thing seeing as I'm still awake!
What do you mean by 'OK'? Optimal is 1000.
Hi, yes I do believe canola and soy are detrimental to health and will not use them, here are a couple of articles on them.
This is a great website with great educational info and videos on YouTube, I became a kitchen alchemist because of this guy 😊
