Hi - i have a large lump in my throat, you can really see it when i swallow but my Thyoird blood tests have come back normal, does anyone else know what it could be - i am having a scan in 10days time - thank oyu

How normal? What were the figures? Normal is just an opinion.... And often people are told they are normal when the blood tests say different.

I havent seen the results - the doctor just said all the bloods came back normal so took that as fact - thank you for your help xx

Lynsay, sorry to say this, but you just can't trust your doctor on anything to do with thyroid. Doctors in general know nothing about it.

You should get into the habit of asking for a print out of any results - it's your legal right to have it - and learn what is 'normal' and what isn't for yourself. That's the first step back to good health!

Lynsay, it is probably a thyroid nodule. The scan will confirm and will measure the size. Nodules >1.5-2cm are usually biopsied via fine needle aspiration to rule out malignancy. 95% of thyroid nodules are benign.
