Vitamin B12 defiecency
Hi,
Thanks for your answer, I have been diagnosed as B12 deficient and have all the symptoms shown in this video apart from incontinence thank god,
I have been having many blood tests every year for years now but nobody has picked up on this deficiency till at my GP practice we got in a locum doctor who sent me for a full count blood test after I became unable to walk more than twenty feet without very severer pains in my legs,
She is only a young lass but seems to know more than these older doctors that I have been seeing over the years, she is just checking with another doctor about some more poor results in my blood test before I start on the B12 injections,
God I hope these work and this problem has not been neglected for to long.
Many thanks again.
Rick.
Might be a good idea to get your VitD levels tested too, plus ferritin and folate, as these are needed for the B12 to be used properly. I do hope things will get better for you soon? Don't worry if some symptoms seem to worsen a bit after the injections, it's to do with the nerves recovering, and will just take a little while to settle. You were very lucky to get such a good locum doctor! Best wishes MariLiz
Hi Rick ,happy New Year. I'm also pleased to see you've got a GOOD apparently knowledgable GP there, a rare Commodity. So hang on to her for dear life! Also check out the "thatVitminCmovie" link on this Community. Look at the pinned posts on RHS for other related topics to things that may or are affecting your current health, especially if you have PA!
It's the TUK website that started me off on my own journey of discovery about my several different health problems. I am very grateful to them for opening my eyes, I've probably caused the admins a lot of extra work.
Also a timely reminder to,EVERYONE here, via one of the topics on RHS, Thyroid UK is a Charity, not just a forum, and there are necessary operating costs to cover! I will be showing my gratitude in more than words when I get my accounts sorted out - very soon I promise, it's the short term memory thing again so I'm sorry I haven't yet done as I said I would!
Hi SAMBS,
We are trying to hang on to this doctor but as she is only a locum we don't know, All our full time doctors left the sinking ship, even the full time nurse left, it used to be the best surgery in my town just cannot understand them all leaving within days of each other,
Yes I am keeping my eyes on the replies about this B12.
Happy New Year to you.
Rick.
Rick, if you join the pernicious anaemia forum you will find much wisdom on b12, Polaris being one of many stars there.
Hi Aspmama,
I am not anaemic with this B12 deficiency and my iron has come right down, doctor say's no need to take B12 injections but after reading on the net about doctors getting this wrong I purchased thirty vial's of B12 and syringes and I am injecting 1 ml every other day, one thing I can say about these B12 injections is since I have been taking them I am not sleeping all day and night any more and feel more alert so looks like they are doing some good,
I will have a look on that forum you pointed out to me.
Thank you very much.
Rick.
