Has anyone with a Vit B12 deficiency had their treatment started with injections? And, if so, how long did you notice an improvement, especially with fatigue?

Hi Nicloa-Jane I had 6 initial injections and have since had 1 other maintenance injection after 3 months.

I'm still really tired all the time & am a bit dubious as to whether they have worked but when I think back to how I was before the injections I was having problems even trying to stay upright most of the time and am no longer like that. So I guess they must be helping a bit.

Hope your treatment goes well for you x

Do either of you know what your levels were before you started and what they are now? From what I understand, if the problem with low levels is because of absorption, it will never correct and will be a case of having supplements continuously?

My level at the beginning was 60 & about 7 weeks after the 6 injections was 380 so I am guessing your right & my body was loosing the big boost fairly quickly. I am not sure if they check your levels one you are on injections, I asked to be checked out of interest. My doctor told me I would be on injections for life.

However I'm of for an endoscopy next week so if I do have an absorption problem caused by coeliac I'm unsure if that means my body will start absorbing stuff again & I won't need the supplements. It's all so confusing!
