GeraldDavid, wait an hour after taking T4 and T3 to eat or drink anything except water.

Was just curious about the effect of carbonated water on the uptake but I do wait an hr for anything but water.

Take the thyroid meds last thing at might before you go to bed? Always worked ok for me.

I used to do that but started interfering with my sleep, plus there is the full glass of water. Now I take t4 and t3 in the morning and t3 in the afternoon. Used to have just t4, the t3 seems to energize me.

Its just a store brand. They used to make from sassafrass roots, now maybe anise. I have made tea from sassafrass roots I dug up, was very good and healthy. They use the leaves as gumbo file.

It's not the sassafrass roots that are the problem. It's the artificial sweetners they put in 'diet' drinks. They can cause all sorts of horrible problems - including cancer.

You'd be better off with sugar than artificial sweetners!

Stay right away from the fizzy pop corporation's "products". They are engineered to simply make money out of gullible people for whose health they do not give a hoot.

GG is dead right, they will encourage cancerous growths, and sugar is better than artificial sweeteners.

I think caffeine interferes with Levo absorption, and is it possible that some root beer contains caffeine?

There`s no caffeine in root beer and if you read the ingredients there`s not much real to it.

i take mine with diet root beer very often and don't know what difference it would make. It is just liquid and chemicals, unfortunately!

I have diet root beer as a treat weekly.

I have read that sucralose in small amounts is probably ok. One needs a healthy diet, whole foods that you prepare yourself. An occasional treat is allowed, moderation is the key. I have lost 100lbs over the last 2 years, mainly by dealing with sleep apnea plus a little t3 and getting my meds right.

That is wonderful! I am on a very restricted, immune system healing, gut healing diet, with supps. Inflammation is a huge issue. You are very fortunate to have found some answers.

A can of diet root beer, weekly, is amazing! I love root beer and i miss pretzels..i think those are 2 of my fav. things to eat, drink.

Still take 9 different prescriptions most 2x a day plus calcium, iron fish oil, CO-10 for the statins, aspirin, turmeric with black pepper for the uptake and some others.

I find the aloe vera helps my stomach but probably don`t need it. turmeric and aspirin are good for inflammation, need aspirin for my heart, had bypass 6 and a half years ago, took out my thyroid during surgery for parathyroids about 4 years ago.

What kind of diet are you on? You might want to to try the aloe vera gel caps, soothing.

I am so sorry to hear this, as most people who are hypo, are not treated correctly. You do know that Hypo. is the most common cause of high cholesterol and inflammation, which causes blocked arteries. I think it is too much of a coincidence that i developed type 2 diabetes, when in [i know know], a hyperthyroid phase of hashimoto. Then i go hypo, my cholesterol is over 300 Trigs, 500 and i suddenly gain 30 lbs in 3 months..all fluid, by the way, i was too ill to eat.

Do you have Hashimotos too?

I am on this gut healing, immune system healing diet, to get rid of my hashi's. low the chronic inflammation, which causes the type 2 and cholesterol issues. I took food sensitivity blood tests and avoid food that i tested positive for. I did stool testing and am taking probiotics, digetsive enzymes, l glutamine etc.. did neurotransmitter testing and take supplements to help my chemical imbalance.

My dad had bipass, grandmother too, most adults in my family are on statins..well were. Both parents died young, from digestive cancers..i am trying to nip this in the bud, as i approach their age. I have learned a lot and would not take a statin, as i was told to do many times, will not take metformin either.

It can be healed thru functional medicine..

Also, please contact Shaws on this forum to links from Dr. John Lowe about proper thyroid treatment.

I just feel you are under treated.

Have you had a free t3 tested?

My ldl cholesterol was 52 last time , have to keep it under 70 because of the heart grafts. My blood sugar was 114 this morning, I take metformin also januvia. My A1-C was 5.7, my Dr. said that was really good, He is also a cardiologist. It has been going up a little. I check it each morning.

My first Dr. had me on too much simvastatin, got terrible cramps. Looked it up on line. Now just 10mg of atorvastatin, take ubiquinol CO Q10, because I`m over 35, for the statin.
