Morning guys I'm not coughing so bad now but still have a tiny streak of blood in my saliva & my phlegm colour is getting back to normal sometimes I have the odd yellow bit but I'm still getting tightness in my throat I'm wondering if I've gotta throat infection & swelling to but still struggling to swallow saliva & I brought Broncho Cough Stop Medicine & Pastilles n its clearing my cough but I'm not choking like I use to before......

It is good news that your cough is improving and I hope the saliva situation has improved too?

However yellow phlegm & a tight throat would indicate there is still infection (& maybe swelling? ).

Do you have any thyroid issues? Do you have any thyroid hormone, nutrient or iron test results you could post complete with ranges (numbers in brackets).?

Low thyroid hormone levels can effect airway smooth muscle and cause a hoarse voice. Tightness could indicate a struggling swollen thyroid gland.

Low thyroid hormones will eventually compromise the immune system.

Most likely an infection, give Olbas menthol pastilles a try especially in bed if coughing is disturbing your sleep.Hold in roof of mouth with tongue. But be warned they are an acquired taste .No one else in the family i.e. Females will have them !

What's Olbas Menthol Pastilles never heard off them are they strong

I guess strong is a subjective term but to me not as strong as Fishermans Friend.

There are fruit flavours that are OK in daytime but the menthol in a small green box are better at night. Available in most pharmacies .

Good for inhaling and rubbing on tired muscles.

Yes ,oil on a hanky is good for sniffing but wife and daughters refuse to try!

I put it in my pillow. It stinks the whole house out but we all love it thank goodness.

I've had this cough since March 2014 I'm wondering if I've got a nasty infection in my throat it feels like the back off my throat is inflamed & swollen on the inside it feels tight & on the outside it feels all sticky n hot....

I wonder if it's stress levels causing it to?

James,

Stress will lower your immune system which will not be able to fight so hard to get rid of the cough.

Have you had nutrient tests recently as deficiencies will also compromise the immune system.?
