Hi everyone.I seem to raise my dose of t3 by 5mcg and am ok and maybe feel improvement 2 weeks in ,but at a month starting to feel worse again I am at 45 mcg ,find it difficult to get above this even though my pulse in 75.and it used to be 80.Does t3 build up like thyroxine used too.
t3 : Hi everyone.I seem to raise my dose of t3 by... - Thyroid UK
t3
Susiebow, T3 doesn't build up in the same way T4 does, ie it doesn't turn to reverse T3. Have you had ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate tested in the last 6 months? Good levels help T3 metabolise and low levels, particularly low ferritin, can make it difficult to tolerate dose increases.

Hi again Clutter,Thankyou for your reply.I have not had these bloods done in a while. The amount of t3 you take effects the TSH,Am I right in saying the more t3 one takes the lower the TSH.I just cannot get the right dose in a consistant way.
Susiebow, your results 2 months ago on 45mcg were TSH 0.81 and T3 5.2 which indicate you are close to optimal dosing. Unless you are extremely deft I doubt you will be able to cut down smaller than a 5mcg dose, but you could crush a 5mcg dose and divide it into 2.5mcg doses and may find it more tolerable than 5mcg dose increases.

Yes I was thinking that may help Clutter,Kind of worried ,because I have been able to achive optimal dosing with all good blood levels in the past ,but never for a long period of time, never felt really well. This past 2 years is all symptoms magnified by 100 times and not getting out of this mire.I am fearing that there is something else wrong but gp tested and tested for all sorts and all normal.
I have been put on blood pressure medication which has made me so ill too so very nauseated all day, they tried diuretic which made me feel faint and vomit, ace inhibiter made me cough, antagonist made me sick ,so back on ace inhibiter ,but feel so nauseated. It is either that drug or have they changed nhs t3 as these are only things I take ,I did not feel sick like this until they put me on these awful bp meds.
Susiebow, I know nothing about BP meds. Perhaps you could post another question asking whether members have had adverse reactions to the drug you are prescribed and whether they can recommend alternatives you can discuss with your GP.
Your last TSH and FT3 were good so I think it's time to look to whether ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate are optimal.
