Hypo and Shingles

I had gotten shingles last year. That was shortly after my meds ran out. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. But it's worth being aware right? I really don't know how to use blogs so sorry if this is a wrong way.

Hi I had shingles last year too, I don't know if yours is to do with your medication. Mine was probably caused by family stress. We can all get shingles unless we haven't had chickenpox. Its usually caused by stress or illness. Hope this helps as I am not a medical person

I had Shingles for the first time this year but not sure that it has any connection with my Hypothyroidism. I wasn't particularly run down and hadn't been without meds but I do keep having meds increased and decreased due to TSH being Surpressed at 0.02.

Such a pity that GP's depend upon TSH levels (often the only testing undertaken) and don't listen to how a person feels.

Not a pleasant thing Shingles, but I got immediate treatment so was fortunate and got off lightly in comparison to many.

I hope your shingles goes away and stays away. That is the most rotten luck.

Oh dear jo wood I feel so sorry for you. Interesting information that there may be a link between low Vit D and Shingles. Hope your thyroid treatment sees an improvement soon soon in your thyroid problem. xx

I know I get low potassium to wear I needed it in an IV but I've never had other vitamins cheeked... But I try and get as much calcium and potassium as I can. See I started getting real itchy on the right side of my back and it was driving me crazy... One morning after I've be itchy for a few days I woke up with a swollen lip out of no where... Then the next day I had the rash... Now when my bank becomes itchy like before I freak a bit... But my point I don't know if vitamin D is low in me at any point.

I'm sure I read somewhere that shingles is connected with being hypo. I've had it twice, first time before I was on medication, the second after a couple of traumas.
