Welcome to our forum,
I hope you are being treated well as you only had your thyroid removed in May.
If you have a copy of your recent blood test with the ranges, you can post them and members will respond.
For your next appointment, make it the earliest and leave about 24 hours between your dose of levo and the test, take it afterwards. Also fast although you can drink water. This procedure enables the TSH to be at its highest as doctors appear to only diagnose upon the blood test results and pronounce us well when we feel anything but.
If GP hasn't tested B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate request these as we are usually deficient.
Thanks for your response. I had my bloods taken yesterday and had taken my thyroxine before breakfast. Unfortunately as I am diabetic as well I had a rather large breakfast because on Wednesday I didn't eat much and a hypo attack.
Whether this will give my bloods a bad result I don't know.
I am with the diabetic nurse Thursday next week for my blood results so I will ask for a print out.
Hello Ladydilox,
Welcome to our forum and sorry to hear of your health issues.
shaws has already offered good advice... just wanted to add...
Bloods could well be skewed by a large breakfast but hopefully your surgery will keep a close eye as you have two conditions to get used to here.... so you may well require further bloods in 6 weeks anyway..! /..
Do you have Hashimotos Autoimmune disease, common in people with thyroid issues .?..? ...
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the cells in the pancreas that make insulin. One autoimmune disease can predispose one to develop others and type 1 diabetics is commonly connected to Hashimotos, where the thyroid gland is mistakenly attacked. This leads to a decrease in thyroid hormone known as hypothyroidism and requiring thyroid hormone replacement. ..

..... [... Insulin resistance and β cell function are inversely correlated with thyroid stimulating hormone which may be explained by insulin-antagonistic effects of thyroid hormones along with an increase in TSH. The higher serum TSH usually corresponds to lower thyroid hormones via negative feedback mechanism....].....
My husband is an insulin diabetic and has found eating protein with every meal to be hugely beneficial... also slow acting carbs, fats, plenty of fruit & veg & healthy life style. . Also balancing fruit/vegetable sugars with protein... i.e. apple with cheese, berries and yogurt, satsuma & brazil nuts . ... as protein takes longer to digest and so help avoiding insulin spikes.
I have Hashimotos and have found this diet to be beneficial too but had to go totally gluten free this year to successfully suppress autoimmune responses. ..
Hope you feel better soon,
Flower

Thank you for your response, I am type two diabetic and take metformin. I am a bit confused about what to eat though. They just push a sheet at you with how many units total a day to eat, a menu would be more helpful.
I normally have cereal/muesli and fruit with either milk or yoghurt for breakfast.
Sandwich for lunch and either meat or tinned fish and salad or a cooked meat meal at about 6pm.
I don't eat processed foods I make all my own meals from scratch.
Just don't know where I am going wrong.
Why do you think you're going wrong? Who said it was your fault? You could just be Under-medicated. You'll know more when you get your results. Til then, Don't fret. Be good to yourself!
Thank you so much
They were about to publish the results of a study for the cure of type 2 diabetes using diet. I think that this was a follow-on from the 5:2 diet. I haven't checked this out recently.
However...if you feel awful don't stress your body with a strict diet.
