Besides muscle pain and breathlessness I've been getting sore burning skin........as if I had been in the sun too long......but I havn't and it isn't sunny here! I've also been quite shaky lately and don't handle stress well. Does anyone else have these symptoms and are you having effective treatment?
Thanks

Hi Clutter.....yes, my last tsh 3 weeks ago 4.06 . vit d top of range. I take a good b complex , ferritin last year normal. Haemocrit borderline or low
Dogtired, TSH 4.06 is your problem. If you are on Levothyroxine you need a dose increase. If you aren't, you'll probably have to wait until TSH is over the GP's range before you get a diagnosis and treatment.
Low haemocrit can be due to B12 or folate deficiency and possibly why your skin feels like it is burning. Ask for B12 and folate to be tested.
Dogtired, I had something similar last year before I was diagnosed. My skin felt sore to the touch and my scalp was really sensitive. Washing my hair was really painful. I was also losing hair from the root. Since starting levo the soreness has completely gone. My scalp still feels a bit sensitive occasionally and I'm still losing hair but its a great improvement.
As for the shaky feeling - low blood sugar? I am also hypoglycemic (have been for over 30 years) and if I don't eat regularly or eat too much sugar, I also get the shakes. Usually keep this in check with a low GI diet. There was a recent post here about the possible link between hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia.
Thanks rosemaryanne .....my adrenals are dodgy as well and i take NA....my surgery are so into the tsh test i can't get them to diagnose ...maybe dr myhill will start to take patients soon ....i live in hope!!!
I had burning skin that felt like sunburn/tightness but without actually being sunburn. The areas I had it changed each week and cold breezes made the sensation unbearable. GP gave me dermacool which did help reduce the pain but didnt fix the issue. Turns out I have hyperesthemia which is an abnormal increase in stimuli sensation... it is linked to thyroid levels - to which we found mine were extremely high. Get your thyroid checked it is more than likely the answer. Its also very common in cats which gave me a laugh!
I am currently undergoing a change in thyroid medication to see if the improvement works. I have an underactive thyroid. Try some cooling creams for a bit of relief but definitely have your thyroid levels checked to see if that could be an underlying cause 😊
