I had the first first blood test results for six months and I was quite nervous. I've felt well (given stressful full-time new job!) and after being severely hper in 2013 - T4 70, flatlined TSH, going on carb for 18 months albeit with consultants initial balking at me doing dose that reduced as bloods came into line. Came off drugs in October, results fine and todays was T4 16, T3, 4.1 and TSH 0.52 - looks fine to my still untutored eye and keeping very careful with diet - no wheat - just would love to get rid of that final half a stone! So do keep postive. I went from being told my thyroid should come out as could be cancerous to no surgery and drug-free. And feeling very very lucky.
some good news! Remission.... touching wood! - Thyroid UK
some good news! Remission.... touching wood!
Tilly, glad to hear things are working out. Results look fine, FT3 perhaps a little low, but unequivocally euthyroid Hope the remission is permanent.
Thanks for replying....Just out of interest how would low FT3 make me feel and what could I do about it, if anything? The only thing I am still struggling with is budging an ounce of weight - despite running and being good with diet (Ok admit to penchant for Haribos and enjoy wine!)
Tilly, Low FT3 can make you feel hypo, slow and tired. 200mcg selenium or 3-5 Brazil nuts daily support thyroid gland.
Worth checking ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate as being hyperthyroid burns up vits/mins. Good levels aid energy and good levels vitD aid T4 to T3 conversion.
Thanks so much, take selenium and iron, will go for Vit D, B vits today, do feel tired but assumed, age, menopause, full-time work!!.....
Tilly, Ask your GP to test vitaminD, B12 and folate before testing. You need to know levels to estimate how much to supplement. You can order private tests from Blue Horizon, Genova and City Assays thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...
Wow, great news Tilly, good to hear from you 😄
