Hi DoDoc
I had a reply notifying me that there is an endocrinologist in Hillsborough but when I enquired it is through GP referral only. Maybe your GP would be willing to refer you but unfortunately mine would not. Please let me know how you get on as I feel that in Northern Ireland we are lagging behind with treatments etc and also it would be great if there were a few support groups set up.
Hello Cassandra. Many thanks for getting back. What a shame your gp would not refer you. I wonder if you can go privately. I think some consultants work between Hillsborough and the Ulster clinic - was it a Samuel Au by any chance? I've heard oh him but know nothing about him. I actually did see a different consultant at the Ulster Clinic in Dec. but he only did the standard TSH, T4 and T3 tests. All was "normal" so I am no better off regarding symptoms. I totally agree with you that we are lagging behind here. A support group would be a great idea. Will let you know if I get any further info. thanks again.
Hi - that is the correct man Samuel Au. I would have been planning to go privately anyway but you still need GP referral apparently. If you do hear of anyone else who doesn't need GP referral or support groups please message me.
Hope things work out for you.
Hi again, Cassandra. Now that I come to think of it I did ask my gp for a letter of referral - sorry to mislead you!
