I have been told that 5 mcg of T3 equal 20 mcg of T4, as T3 is four times more potent than T4. I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

i think if my calculations are correct it's about 15mcg...

BUT... if you can't convert T4 into T3, T4 equals nothing at all.

5 mcg T3 would equal roughly 20 -25mcg of Thyroxine as it's 4 to 5 times as potent.

Jobeth, T3 is 3 x stronger than T4 so 5mcg T3 = 15mcg T4. The synergistic effect is probably greater as a little T3 helps stimulate T4 to T3 conversion.

Ok thanks.

what it is, is I reduced from 2 and half grains of nature throid as I was having a flare up down to 2 grains to help symptoms at time, so now as of blood tests yesterday am hypo again.

Tsh 11.30

Ft3 3.7

Ft4 6.8

But instead of moving back up to the usual 2 and half grains I wanted to replace the half grain with 5 mcg of t3.

As my free 4 is only ever just barely in range anyway I thought I'd feel better with the t3. As t4 has never been that good to me.What do you think?
