Siskin, Wockhardt produce 25mcg Levothyroxine tablets and any pharmacist should be able to obtain them easily. If you want to stick with the make you are currently taking splitting a 50mcg tablet with a pill cutter (approx £2.99 from pharmacies) is another option.
Thank you maddyO1. I am dependent on the local pharmacy as I am virtually housebound. They run a service whereby they collect script from docs. and then deliver the goods to me.
If I need other pharmacy items I order over phone and pay by card, so I am very lucky but restricted from choice perhaps.
If you like the brand you are using, it might be better to stick with that and split the pill. You may soon be taking 100 anyway and it is more economical.
Hi Heloise, thank you for your reply. I see you mention cheaper to get 100 and split, if I am reading you correctly that implies you may be paying for your prescription.
I am exempt as I am76 and it is possible you may be exempt too.
Thank you Siskin, I was speaking generally and many people who are trying to save costs ask their doctors to prescribe in a way that's most economical. When I was paying for Armour it did make a difference with the size of the pill. It probably had to do with production costs. But If you don't have to pay out of pocket it doesn't matter.
I'm happy that you have finally succeeded after all these months to try a hormone. My sister-in-law just informed me that she thinks she has PMR as well. This must be terrible to deal with as you try to figure out if your Levo is helping. I had terrible pain when I started on Synthroid.
Totally incorrect. I take a 100mcg tablet and a 25mcg and have been doing so for a year. I get all my prescriptions from Boots. I believe the 25mcg tablets i have are Mercury Pharma brand.
Thank you for that Sjaggs, I will put that to my pharmacist. That would be good because Mercury were my 1st script. Please also see my reply to maddy01 above.
