I've been reading about this as a cure for periodontal disease (apparently another lovely hypo symptom).
I know vit C is a good idea for hypo/hashis but not so sure about the high dose? Can anyone advise me please?
Thanks a lot

I think the worse thing excess Vit C will do is give you the runs. Vit D may help and I found a cutting the other day suggesting melatonin does.
Infomaniac, I take 1,000mcg vitC daily and I know some members take 2-3,000mcg daily. As Aspmama says, vitC can have a loosening effect on the bowels.
I'm the same as the other two, I take 1000mcg vitamin C with zinc every day. It was recommended to me by my dentist after I had a tooth removed. Then when I started taking carbimazole for my Graves the pharmacist suggested I take vitamin C as well. I've taken it ever since - several years. No problems.
Fantastic! At one time any loosening of the bowels would have been a major bonus but somewhere along the line of taking Levo and going gluten free things have improved 100% (the only good thing to happen I may add!)
Totally! I have gum disease and plantar fasciitis and I would never in my wildest dreams have imagined they were linked to my thyroid. Whenever I get any strange little niggle I always google it and low and behold, it's always the flippin' thyroid to blame!
I sometimes think it's a pity some doctors didn't google more often. Before I was finally diagnosed I visited one doctor who clearly thought I. Was a total hypochondriac. Three months later I reached rock bottom and was really ill. I always think that if a doctor thinks someone is a hypochondriac then they ought to check out the patients thyroid. The thyroid affects SO many different areas of the body. 😊
I think some GPs would feel it was beneath them to be honest. But really it's just keeping up to date. I know I would if I didn't know what patients were talking about!
Hi, I’d very much like to read the article you mention. Could you post some info?
