Hi guys perhaps you can help with my latest dilemma :
Presently on 6 x nutripak natural porcine (130 mg thyroid tissue per tab ) + 20 mcg T 3 daily .
I have worked up slowly on the nutripak and only just ( last week or so seen some more promising results ) .
Endo sent me a letter to say they were most concerned after my latest blood test as TSH had shot up and was I taking my thyroxine properly.
Obviously I thought I'd better come clean about what I'm doing and she wasn't too horrified as I'd feared but said she'd consult with the team and see what they think .
I'm pretty sure they'll want me to go back in thyroxine and I'm keen not to though I am getting desperate to see results .
Do you think I should persevere as I am ? Or increase either porcine or T3 ? Not sure where to go from here
Thanks !

Am not familiar with this product so looked it up and noticed the following statement :-
"Nutri-Pak Natural Thyroid is a 100% natural and pure New Zealand BSE free bovine, raw tissue glandular which supports healthy thyroid function, hormone and endocrine system balance. Nutri-Pak Natural Thyroid is made from the whole thyroid gland minus T4 (which is only available through prescription). This product is identical to Atrium Natural Thyroid Glandular, though the Atrium version is often created from porcine (pig). "
it states that it has no T4 is in it -could this be why your FT4 is low and triggering your TSH to rise.
May be you need to consider a NDT like WP, Armour etc... which has both T4 & t3 in it if you do not want to go back to thyroxine.
Thanks waveylines I feel rubbish ! Yes maybe I need to try something stronger but I don't know where to start with choosing an NDT and am so sensitive to everything the nutripak seemed z gentle way to start . However I think my body is screaming out for more !
Am afraid you dont have much choice -you need to replace what your thyroid can not do. Did you not do well on levothyroxine is that why you don't want to go on it?
I did ok for about 8-9 years ( I had thyroidectomy 12 yrs ago) but last few years have been terrible And haven't been able to get any stability . have been on as high as 150 thyroxine and as low as 50 , also tried T3 only which was a disaster for me .
I think you're right , I need to get something containing t4 going and still have some thyroxine , maybe I'll add some until I can work out which and where to get some better NDT .
I know you said you didn't do well on thyroxine alone but have you considered adding a little to your existing T3 and still continuing on the glandulars?
Did you have a total thyroidectomy? If so 150 is not a lot for a total replacement and 50mcg is peanuts!! If it's any help my body struggled with the fillers in the tablets so after trying levothyroxine, then levothyroxine and adding t3 I finally moved across to a NDT. I have been on three different ndts but the one that has worked best of all is WP as it has natural fillers. Since beng on WP I even had to reduce my dose as my uptake of it improved. This despite the active ingredients being the same potency contents as the two otherndts!!
Yes I did have thyroidectomy and have been feeling for last four years at least that I'm under replaced but at times when I've been on as high as 150 levo I've had terrible hyper symptoms and had to reduce again .
I'm sure NDT would replace what I've lost better and that's my ultimate goal but I think for now I have to settle for t4&t3 combo to get my levels up & TSH down , then I can hopefully try NDT . I too was looking at WP for the fact it has less fillers . Can you pm me where you get it from please ?
