I must have changed my GP at some point but I can't remember whether it was a smooth tradition or not but then a bit of lateral thinking clicked it so hope you don't mind me mentioning it! We often see on this forum people not being happy with their GP and how do you find one open to prescribing NDT or T3. Now I don't know whether that is applicable to you or you may be have been thinking of going down that road but the advice given then has been to ask in local pharmacies if anyone prescribes these. So if you are or have been thinking along those lines then may be do that.

There is a website that grades GP's on patient feed back but I haven't a link but I'm sure a search engine will point you in the right direction. I see you have already moved, well ask the neigbours, a good way of introducing yourself to the community.

I should have changed my GP over a decade ago but 3 years ago I moved and consequently had to find a new one. I'd pretty much lost all hope so my expectations weren't great and just as well .... at the time of changing, probably due in part to the added stress, the 'lump in my throat' which had bothered me for years without so much as my old GP asking to take a look, became very bad, I was choking a lot after feeling as though I'd breathed in a tiny speck of dust and it had caught on something ..... difficulty swallowing, constant feeling of a large lump in my throat .... my new GP said it was "golf ball syndrome" without even looking down my throat or feeling my neck and prescribed me chlorpromazine (largactil) which I proceeded to get from the chemist, went home and found out it was an anti-psychotic with nasty side-effects. I knew the lump wasn't imaginary and just put them in my bedside drawer with absolutely no intention of taking them. Unfortunately a week or so later I woke up and mistook them for my blood pressure tablets and proceeded to take them every morning for 3 days. I thought I was dying, I couldn't get out of bed and felt horrendous, and seriously thought I was on my way out, I barely managed to get out of bed for a glass of water.

I haven't been back since but know I must do so soon but I need to make sure I'm ready for it, I need to be well-armed and assertive and lay my cards out on the table and just cross my fingers and toes that I will be listened to. The idea fills me with dread, I am not my own best advocate so I keep putting it off.

I'm afraid it will be luck of the draw for you, but hope your experience is a huge improvement on my first! All the best :)
