Some interesting thoughts about vitamin D

Do you take your vit D every day? Or once a week?

And how about vitamin D testing? A bit pie in the sky, this one, but nice to know what the future holds... possibly.

Hi, I asked to get a Vitamin D test when I had my latest blood tests this week but was turned down because it wasn't ordered by my GP; what is a safe dose/supplement to take please? I'm pretty new to all this! Thanks

You should get tested before supplementing. It dépends on your levels how much you should take.

That is so true! We just have to continue trying things until we find something that works.

It's best to test before supplementing.

Most folk are lowest April - Deficiency symptoms include depression & shin/rib pain.

I can't say I've seen the incidence of deficiency in UK - but it's very common (confirmed by letters from the Chief med officers to GPs - see link on my profile).

If GP refuses, why not lash out £28 on a test ? best thing I did for my pain (NHS lab)....

x amount of codliver oil/vit D capsules/sardines is difficult to swallow daily/once a week - luckily there's alternatives now - drops, sprays - much more time/tummy friendly.

(I took 3-4000iu biocare drops daily with milk & saw results within 3 months - worse to start 'tho - still managed to avoid unnecessary surgery) then I dared to give mum 10-21 weekly too - strangely her 'rheumy' pain went... daughter deficient & granddaughter too - jaundice, supplemented then able to walk... enough of anecdotes!

I only supplement winter time - it's powerful stuff (also rat poison!) - but Sunshine is the REAL thing :) - no additional supplements needed like K2... (eat Brie anyway)

(why do them tha' northen climes have a traditional fish culture? - like the bloke says - 'tis nature)

I dare to rant a little - because VitD (pro-hormone) is under-rated & is the stuff that underpins the rest - IMHO..

We can only 'get' Vit D from Sunshine May to September in the UK/USA/Cananda... and the rest of the year is too long to wait...

please refer to interesting studies from Uni of Florida, and grassrootshealth ...
