Can you take DHEA and be on the Combined Pill at the same time?
i can't see why not. But why is DHEA low?
Hi Faith. I suspect it has been low for the past 5 years or so or at least since I got taken off the pill. I was recently offered the pill again as one of the GP's finally made the connection between this and my symptoms and offered it to me hence my question
p.s these test results were taken before I was even offered the pill so not tainted in any way
Here are some things to consider when thinking about taking the pill which contain 3rd generation synthetic progestins NOT progesterone. PR

Yes, these are very big concerns. It is a shame that taking this kind of pill causes women to have to think about if or how it might affect their health overall. I was trouble free on this for 20 years and I would like to think I would continue to be fine but we don't know
I have oestrogen, progesterone and DHEA prescribed in one lozenge, which is a similar combination (although mine are the natural versions). In the Uk, DHEA is now prescription only, which is not to say that you can't still find supplements.
Hi Angel of the North - sorry, can I just clarify. So, these supplements can be purchased over the counter so to speak however, you get yours prescribed. is there a difference in the ones that are prescribed and the ones you can buy over the counter?
Legally you cannot purchase DHEA OTC in the UK. However there are several .co.uk websites which seem to be based in the UK that sell DHEA. I don't know what you get if it is prescribed by a mainstream doc. Mine is part of my bioHRT. I used to buy 25mg micronized DHEA capsules, but now take just 12.5mg a day.
