Hi.. I was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago as interactive thyroid. Only results given were TSH at 4.66 & thyroid peroxidase antibodies 1000. Dr doesn't think I have hashimotos but can't say for sure. I'm only on 25 levothyoxine but due more tests in just over a week. Also was told I was pre diabetic. This last week or so I have had dizzy spells & sweating feeling hot & occasional pins & needles tingly feelings in my hands. Also have hair loss but this has been happening before diagnosis & I think is slowing down. Does this happen to anyone else & is it normal. Thankyou.

No I haven't. The dr's don't seem keen to test anything else but will have another try. Thankyou x

Scooby , you can buy a b12 spray ,but it sounds like you need them all tested.

Good luck!

Anti bodies over 1000 and he doesn't think it's hashimotos? You need to find another doctor.

Beginning to think I do. It's hard to get the right diagnosis & treatment. Will keep at it. Thank you.

Scooby42, thyroid peroxidase antibodies 1,000 means you are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease which UK doctors tend to call thyroiditis or autoimmune thyroiditis and the rest of us call Hashimoto's.

The symptoms you describe are typical Hashi and hypothyroid symptoms. 25mcg is a very low dose and not often helpful. You should feel improvement after you are optimally dosed which for most people means TSH just above or below 1.0.

Leave 24 hours between last dose and blood draw which should be early in the morning, preferably before breakfast, when TSH is highest.

Pins and needles and tingling can also be due to low B12. Ask your GP to test B12 and folate, and if possible ferretin and vitaminD. Low levels are common in hypo patients. Ask for a printout of results and post them with the lab ref ranges in a new question for advice on whether and how much to supplement.

Yes after everything I have read I thought that was the case. Just feel so out of it & tired. My next blood tests are early afternoon no ones ever advised what time to get them done, will see if I can get them changed. Thank you. I will take a list of test to ask for & see where I get. Thank you for your advise x
