Hello. I had a total thyroid Lobectomy and isthmectomy (left thryroid removed) a week ago as I had a 6cm solid lump in there. I am feeling a little bruised but physically ok. However, I feel like I am not quite with it in my head. I get occasional dizziness and nausea but its just this feeling of not being quite right. I'm too nervous to drive (and I am not a nervous driver) as I just dont feel straight in my head.
I am still waiting for the results of the lump which is hard to do as I feel I can't quite get on with things until I know for sure that the lump is ok. I think I have to wait about another week to see consultant.
Has anyone else had this? How long did it last? would it be that my existing half of my thyroid isn't working quite right.

Morning..you are feeling just the same as I did with the same operation ? I was having like anxiety and really fuzzy head.it will hopefully get better in months to come .. karen
I had a partial thyroidectomy and they also removed a lump in May and I had the same feeling. It was because they stopped my thyroid meds until they new if the lump they removed was cancerous. At my follow up the next week they had me resume my meds and that helped. I guess they want to be sure its not cancerous first because they thyroid meds can make the cancer grow.
Thank you - yes this makes sense. I had no idea that I had a problem with my thyroid until this massive lump appeared! They think Ive had it for at least a couple of years! I just thought it was normal to feel tired with occasional periods of lightheadedness - I just put it down to having 3 kids!!
I guess when I go back for the results, they will test my bloods. I have to say that the information following the operation has been sketchy to say the least and as I've only been seeing an endrocrinologist since August, I have a lot still to learn!
