Test Results help please...

Hi All,

Not posted for a while but read everyday!

Started on Thyroid S and suffered horrendous constipation, so switched to T3 only. Have recently had a blood test and the levels are:

Tsh 0.01 range 0.27 to 4.20

T4 1.5 range 12 to 22

T3 7.6 range 3.1 to 6.8

I'm currently on Tiromel 25mcg 2 x 2 per day, 1st thing and either lunchtime or by 4pm depending on when I've had lunch.

Pulse fine, average 65 to 70 bpm, temp now steady at 98.0 to 98.5 one hour after dose.

Eyebrows growing! Itching less but still take antihistamines. Bowels still awful. Holding weight steady no, lost 6lb to start with.

The only side affect is sometimes find I'm gritting my teeth? Possible over medication symptom?

Shall I reduce to 1 x 2 a day? Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, just to clarify your total dose T3 are you taking 100mcg daily?

You're over medicated but not massively. Why don't you try reducing to 75mcg T3 rather than to 50mcg, and then retest in a month?

Gritting your teeth could be anxiety-symptom of hyper/over medication , this should settle as you decrease the dose 😀

Are you taking 4 tablets of 25mcg of T3 per day? which would roughly be about 300mcg of T4.

KT304, FT3 is slightly over range but reducing T3 by half a tablet (12.5mcg) is probably sufficient for FT3 to drop into range and hopefully stop you gritting your teeth.

Hi All, thank you for the replies, yes 4 tablets per day, 2 in the morn, 2 in the afternoon. 25mcg x 4 is 100mcg.

Thyroid S did not agree with me at all!

Will drop dose as suggested and retest in a month. It may work better for me to take 1 tablet 3 times per day as I still find I get cold and sleepy in the evening having the second dose at midday.

I also recently got some zinc, selenium and magnesium but am unsure when to take it? If I dose 3 times a day, say at 6am, 12noon and 4pm do I take supplements in the evening?

Thanks to all x

KT304, why not take the 2nd dose a few hours later? 3 x dosing becomes a pain to organise away from food/drink and other meds/supplements.

I think you can take all of those supplements together and with food. Just make sure they're taken 2 hours away from T3.

Brilliant thank you Clutter.

It makes sense to stick with 2 doses, and supplement at lunchtime.

Thanks again!

Note for me:

Dose 1: 6am 50mcg

Lunchtime: supplements (when at work lunchtime is around midday) Iron, Vit D, Folate, Multi B Complex.

Dose 2: 4pm 25 mcg - if I get symptomatic then bring forward 2nd dose making sure I leave at least 2 hours after eating.

Throughout day: Vit C, Vit B12.

If I need a boost, try with 12.5 mcg later in the day.

Will test 75mcg for a few weeks and monitor bpm, temp etc and Reassess.

KT503, very important to keep iron and vitD 4 hours away from T3.
