Jazzane, free thyroxine (FT4) is the usual T4 test done in the UK.

what is the diff. with total t4 x

Jazzanne, total T4 (TT4) measures the total bound T4 whereas FT4 measures the unbound T4 available for conversion to T3.

should tt4 be part of a thyroid test when your trying to get diagnoised x

Jazzanne, no, FT4 is preferable. Usual NHS tests are TSH and FT4. FT3 is desirable but rarely done at GP practices unless TSH is suppressed, and not always then.

Jazzanne, the free thyroxine is free T4 (FT4).

Your TSH is a little higher than many people are comfortable with. If you feel well it is no problem but if you are still symptomatic there is room for a dose increase. Most people are comfortable with TSH just above or below 1.0. Your FT4 and FT3 look reasonable but to be sure I would need to see the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results).

Jazzanne, yes they do. They don't indicate low thyroid but retest in 6-12 months as symptoms can precede abnormal bloods by months/years.

It may be worth having ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate tested because low levels can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood very similar to hypothyroid symptoms.

clutter would a fsr blood not show if there might be something up with your ferritn and folate? x

Jazzanne, I don't know what FSR is. Ferritin, B12 and folate are individual and specific tests not covered by others.

Jazzane, no FBC doesn't include vitamin and mineral tests.
