It's important in the conversion of T4 toT3. It activates natural killer cells in the body to protect and monitor the immune system.Low selenium leads to higher risk of heart disease and cancer.
Too much is dangerous. So best to check level if supplementing.
The thyroid gland also needs selenium.
think Adrenals need it too.
