Newbie. Anyone use Burbage Surgery, Leics?

Hi everyone, I'm new here and I've never posted on a health forum before!

I was diagnosed as having hypothyroidism in July 2014 and have been on levothyroxine 50mcg ever since. My TSH was 6.41 when I first started treatment and 6 wks later it was 2.52. Today I had a 6 month check up blood test so don't have any recent results yet.

I still have thyroid symptoms, cold hands, hair loss, bad memory/foggy thinking and dry skin on my hands and feet and would like to try an increase in meds, does anyone go to the Burbage Surgery in Hinckley and know if any of the Drs are sympathetic to thyroid problems? The dr I've seen was a registrar and I wonder if a more experienced dr would more likely increase my meds though I guess I need to see what my latest results are next week though. I'm not very good at speaking up so don't want to be fobbed off with it's normal!

Anyway sorry for sounding off, I don't know anybody with thyroid probs so it's my first time really talking about it!

Thanks, Victoria.

Welcome to the forum, Turtle83.

Ask for a printout of your results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) and post them in a new question and members will advise.

The only advice without results which might help when you see your doctor for a dose increase is that most people are comfortable with TSH just above or below 1.0 with FT4 in or near the top 75% of range. Read Dr. A. Toft's comments on dosing and blood levels to Pulse Online in the link below. If you want a copy of the full article to show your GP email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk
