Hi, I stupidly stopped taking 50mg of levothyroxine about 8months ago. I have been feeling odd for a while and my blood test tsh level was 4.43
T4 18.1
Ferritin 22
The dr said it was fine so no need to have levothyroxine.. What are opinions

Well technically, the latest ranges for TSH were actually changed by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologsts (AACE) back in 2003 where TSH above 3.0 is the max range, however, most docs still go with the old ranges where 5.0 (pre 2003 ranges) is the max for TSH. According to my doctor, he states that most people feel "normal" when their TSH is between 1.0-2.0. But as many have said, TSH is not the end all, be all of lab results that should be looked at for thyroid function. TSH, with Free T4 and Free T3, as well as Reverse Free T3 are much more helpful to get a good snapshot of what's going on.
Hope that helps some
Charlyp, that was a mistake You will probably have to wait until your TSH rises above ref range before you will get a new hypothyroid diagnosis and treatment. Ask for a repeat test in 3-6 months and book the blood draw early in the morning when TSH is highest.

Your ferritin is very low and this can make you feel fatigued, breathless and cause bone pain. Supplement ferrous fumarate and take each iron tablet with 500mg-1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and mitigate constipation.
Ask for vitamin D, B12 and folate to be tested as they are often low in hypothyroid people and cause musculoskeltal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms.
