I didn't have an itchy scalp but have had really dry itchy skin on my legs over last few years of Graves/Hyper, even over last few months after RAI. Not sure if that helps answer your question though!
My partner (who doesnt have an apparent thyroid condition) gets dry skin when he eats anything with soya in. That includes especially the bread (prebaked or baked in store) in supermarkets - most use soya flour to cheaply bulk up the wheat flour.
If it's not some type of allergy/intolerance you could try Neutrogena T Gel shampoo, which is very good.
or try zinc. I recently took a course of zinc for something else, and my scalp cleared up after years and years of trying everything under the sun. I finished the course and didn't buy any more as I didn't get the connection at the time, and sure enough my itchy flaky scalp came back. I did a google search on it and found that they use zinc in Head and Shoulders shampoo which led to the connection. I've since begun to use it again.
Hi there, found that using olive oil (I'm sure others are better but it was cheap and in the kitchen) applied to my scalp before I went to bed gave me relief and actially stopped it for a while. I just put a towel on my pillow... Don't know if that helps or not...
