Graves: I saw my consultant yesterday and he took... - Thyroid UK
Graves
Those who have been prescribed will respond. It does sound very unprofessional to not, at least, tell patient why they have decided and what patient should/may expect.
Hi demon kitten.I too have graves. and they stopped my carbimazole after reading my last blood test said I've gone into remmision.I'm trying to get hold of my results so I can put them on here .so many wonderful people and good advice given take care xx
I’m in remission from Graves. I was treated with block and replace but one day I went along for a consultation and next day I stopped everything. At that point I was taking 40mcg carbimazole and 100mcg levothyroxine every day.
My bloods were tested the week before I saw the endo but I wasn’t expecting to stop, on the other hand I had been told that my block and replace treatment would take a year and that was exactly a year after my treatment started so I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised.
Get a hold of all of your blood test results. I never ever had my T3 checked or my vitamin D so ever since I have checked my own using Blue Horizons Thyroid 11 Home fingerprick blood test which covers everything I wanted to know. I also went totally gluten free about three years ago to try and reduce my thyroid antibodies (I did!) so it’s worth considering that too.
He really should have explained why he was stopping the Carbimazole and what he expected to happen next.
Hopefully, you have gone into remission. How do you feel?
So far I feel ok but only been off them a day but I have a lot of other problems with my health
Do you know if they are related to the Graves? May I ask what the other problems are?
Type 1 diabetes crumbling disc and legs that swell for no reason and lump in arm that my Dr said is normal
