Hi - can anyone offer any advice or help? I have a majority of the Hyperthyroidism symptoms mentioned on the Thyroid UK website. My doctor also thought it was a strong possibility when I mentioned these symptoms to her. However, I have had a standard blood test to check my thyroid and the result has come back very normal - 1.89. Has anyone got any advice on where I go from here? Is private testing or as my result is considered well within the normal is it highly unlikely my health concerns are thyroid related?Feeling at my wits' end...

What was checked? TSH? Only TSH is not enough, you've got to check FT4 and FT3 also.
It was a standard blood test by the doctor, so I am assuming it was just TSH. When she booked me in I did mention the other checks but she just wrinkled her nose, so I felt uncomfortable pushing it! Could there still be a problem detected in those areas even if my TSH is reading as normal?
I am sorry you are having problems.
I assume your doctor only tested the TSH. She should have tested T4 and T3 (although labs don't often test T3 if TSH is 'normal' so I would go back to GP and ask if these tests cold be done. I would ask the doctor also to test your antibody levels as well as Vitamin B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.
Ask for all the tests Clutter has suggested and as Really Fed Up has said, it could be secondary hypo. Antibodies test should confirm. I am hypo TSH less than 0.01, though I have high antibodies, that was on 200 thyroxine and 25 liothyronine. I am now on 150 thyroxine and 20 liothyronine. I never had antibodies test on diagnosis so don't know if they have come down, though are currently high.
