Hi Dee

Is it possible, please, to have the ranges of your blood tests. The reason is that labs throughout the country have different ones (they use different machines) so it enables members to comment.

My results say TSH 1.7 mIU/L (0.4 - 5.0)

T4 12 pmol/L (9 -19)

hope that makes sense to you - thank you

Yes it makes sense. As you say your TSH maybe a little high for you so maybe the GP can increase levo. If he is one of the doctors who think it's o.k. to keep the TSH in the 'normal range'. The best way to judge a dose of thyroid hormones is 'how you feel'. If GP is happy with 1.7 ask if you can have another small increase (25mcg) as you feel better with a lower TSH.

Would you consider switching to a bedtime dose? Some feel better as medication is able to be absorbed throughout the night without interference from food. If you did, you would last have to have eaten two hours before taking levo. You would miss the night's dose if you were having a blood test next day and also you can take the night dose as usual.

hi no I can't take it at night as I suffer from acid reflux which is worse at night & take my tablets for this a night - the joys of being ill

Are you positive you have stomach reflux due to high acid? The reason for the query is that if hypo we are usually 'low acid' but the symptoms are similar.

Do you feel any benefit with the prescription GP gave for reflux?

Yeah I had it before the thyroid problem. came of meds for endoscopy & that confirmed I have reflux. They also found polyps. It flares up every now & then stress does not help either. I had discussed that it could be low acid but as said 2 endoscopy' s later it's confirmed - don't 2 ant another one that's for sure

That's good it's confirmed as many members are prescribed anti-d's when they've had no confirmation one way or another. When GP prescribed a medication which gave me severe pain in my stomach so I re-searched and I've had no trouble since I switched to betaine/pepsin tablets instead.

Not what you're looking for?
