Hi there sorry for all the questions! Just wondered if anyone could recommend best cream for healing scar tissue etc...
Which cream is best to use on scar after hemith... - Thyroid UK
Which cream is best to use on scar after hemithyroidectomy and how soon after can I apply it?
I don't know if this will help. Don't Click on the UK or USA site just click on the X on the r/hand side.
Following my TT the nurse told me to just rub my normal face cream into the scar which I started to do about a month post op. Recently my little great nephew had to have a growth removed from his face and my niece was told to massage the scar as part of the healing process so I wonder if the massage is as important as the cream used. Anyway 3 years on and my scar is barely visible. It did look quite red for about a year though.
organic rosehip oil
Beware of "normal" face creams as most contain nasties unless a totally organic product
Yes, I agree would defo go with natural/ organic. I'm thinking at the moment arnica or base cream vit e and lavender but yes have heard about rosehip so may research that too thank you. X
My favourite for all scars is pure vitamin E oil.
Loopy, the hospital gave me chloramphenicol, antibiotic eye cream, to use after my hemi and completion. I applied it 3 x daily from about day 3 after the ops. Scar was almost invisible after a couple of months after each op. As Hennerton says, vitE oil is excellent for scars too.
Clutter when did you have your stitches removed, cod I went to doctors today but nurse would not remove after 3 days she said it was too soon. Did you have yours removed after three days and then put cream on or did you apply cream over stitches... Confused. Also nurse has put big plaster over stitches and said not to get it wet. Is this normal?
Coming from a long line of university trained pharmacists (back to the 1840s), except me, we always used 100% Cocoa butter. The raw form. It's sold in sticks and is very cheap. Lasts a long time, does not go rancid and it works very well. (Except if someone has an allergy to it, of course.) Full of antioxidants and the saturated fat seals the wound so the skin cells can migrate over it quickly and easily. Gently pass it over the wound as the fat melts at 90 F. Otherwise it's quite hard.
Hmmm liking the found of that. Fo you think lavender oil and or vit e oil Gould be added to it?
I made up my own cream on recommendation from Health Food shop. I had TT last Feb and now my scar is almost invisible to naked eye. I mix it up weekly and apply twice a day now. If the beginning I applied 4 times a day to keep skin moist.
I use: 10 drops vitamin E oil, 10 drops Rose oil, tablespoon organic coconut oil, tablespoon E45 cream, tablespoon Aloe Vera gel or cream, add two/3 drops lavendar oil to speed healing. If I have any collagen gel/cream I mix that I too. The results have been brilliant. Now I have family asking me to mix some for them as my skin looks so good, I'm 68. If cream looks too runny just put in more E45 cream to bind it.
Xx
I do scar treatment as part of my Body Realignment and just use my fingers/hands; the results can be dramatic however old the scar is. The use of cream/oil would be to lubricate any friction and moisturise the area, the addition of beneficial essential oils or special oils would be a matter of personal choice with regard to sensitivity. I am pleased that some medical people are advocating that patients massage their scars, usually the scars are left to form deep adhesions which can have long-lasting negative effects.
Hmmm this is really interesting! I'm a massage therapist and aromatherapist so kinda aware of this but not as a specific treatment. I'm using creams oils etc but a little too scared of touching the scar tissue as it just feels odd if that makes sense and don't want to damage although I know I can't really... Do you do this for a living?

I had stitch(es) & beads removed after 10 days then rubbed in a little vaseline and then bio-oil,
4" scar not noticeable afterwards - but doesn't tan
Hope you're feeling Ok - I just slept a lot... J
