Has anyone here been prescribed NDT (of any brand) on NHS prescription in Northern Ireland? PM me with details from where, if so. My endo says no one in NI is taking it!!

I have not looked to see if the same basic figures are available over the water. If they are available, then extracting what you want to know is straightforward. So, you go off and find them and, if you need, contact me for help in extracting them.

Well, yes, that is indeed a perfectly valid source. It doesn't identify down to Local Commissioning Group or GP Practice. But, as a means to answer your question, that doesn't matter. The only thyroid and anti-thyroid medicines that were prescribed in NI in 2013 were:

Levothyroxine Sodium (Dt) Tablet 100microgram

Levothyroxine Sodium (Dt) Tablet 25microgram

Levothyroxine Sodium (Dt) Tablet 50microgram

Levothyroxine Sodium Sugar Free (Dt) Oral Solution 100micrograms/5ml

Levothyroxine Sodium Sugar Free (Dt) Oral Solution 25micrograms/5ml

Levothyroxine Sodium Sugar Free (Dt) Oral Solution 50micrograms/5ml

Liothyronine (Dt) Tablet 20microgram

Neo-Mercazole 20 Tablet 20mg

Neo-Mercazole 5 Tablet 5mg

Propylthiouracil (Dt) Tablet 50mg

No "foreign" 5 or 25mcg liothyronine. No liothyronine capsules (which are "specials"). No desiccated thyroid.

Thanks Rod, looks like my endo isn't telling porkies!! So bang goes my chances of getting ndt probably. Could you possibly pm how I could go about buying it online?
