I notice that when I`m coming down with a cold, I seem to get clumsier & more forgetful. this has me worrying about whether colds have a role in the development of dementia, or is it just all part of having thyroid problems?

I suspect that feeling awful when we are ill is a way for the body to make us slow down for our own protection while we suffer the illness and then go through recovery. If the body needs all its reserves to fight off an illness, the last thing it needs is for people to go for a run or do 6 hours heavy digging in the garden. In the interests of long-term survival people MUST slow down.
