Re GP and private blood testing, again, and a Genova question.

Thanks you all who responded last time to this heading.

Have found local hosp.will take blood £10.00. but maybe free as I have to have an NHS test anyway.

Now I have another question, Genova do two tests almost the same except one does reverse T3, is it worth paying the extra (approx £40) if not being medicated?

It is worth getting the test that includes RT3 just to rule out RT3 issues. Then you can exclude it the next time round

I'd agree with Bluedaffodil - do it once, just to find out if it is an issue for you. If it isn't then you can forget about it in future. Be aware though that the NHS doesn't "believe" in RT3 and will dismiss it completely. Members of thyroid forums won't though.

I had high RT3 last year. I self-medicated with T3-only for a while and brought the RT3 down to be in range again. Made a huge difference to how I felt, and I have no regrets.
