Hi, I would like to share my story of being a grave disease for pass one year, and I'm join a study runs by my Endocrinologist to see if carbi will make you put on weight. I been put on 15mg Carbi, my THS is missing, my T3 and T4 are 2 times higher.

I am slightly better then one year ago but not significant. For the pass one year I did the natural way, first Chinese herbs then Vitamins, other supplements and proper diet. I have been refused to be pur on thyroid pills. I went to my Endocrinologist seek for ensuring because my GP almost threatened if I don't take thyroid pills its better to take my thyroid gland out once for all. Any ways he is an ass and businessman. After seeing the Endocrinologist I know I am not serious. I planed not to just get an ensuring but not taking the medication. But when she brought up the study it interested me. I went on to take Carbi ... Starting less than a week I am taking 2.5mg Carbi and I am planning to take 5mg after one week. I will keep the dosage till I see my Endocrinologist next month. I don't want to shock My body with 15mg... I am already put on 6kg since I diagnosed. I hope I can people here. Pls feel free to ask if there is any questions.

Hi, I was told to do block and replace with carbi, 18 months ago After looking in it and help from this site decided to do up and down titration of drug according to monthly blood results..... at the time my T4 was nearly 70 and TSH flatlining. I was underweight. I was put on 40 mg of carb, it was very effective, T4 down to normal levels in six weeks of less - can't remember now.... reduced carb to 20 then halved that until down to 5mg, finally last few months was down to 5mg every other day. No thyroxine. I ditched wheat completely, take supplements, have acupuncture every three weeks and two months ago - a month before coming off carb completely started herbal medication.... so far touching wood bloods have been normal. I have another test tomorrow then endos next week - who after initial push for RI have been very very supportive (Bristol ) I have put on 7kg..... from 9 half stone to nearly eleven which for me was horrible although I am 5ft 7in.... had only ever got near that weight when I was nine months pregnant. Took up running, careful about food but I believe carb has put brakes on metabolism, it is going slowly now.... however hair has come back thick which is lovely and I feel well, am still scared sitting on time bomb but whatever happens I feel have done level best to so far avoid taking thyroxine and having RI or surgery. If you feel you are constantly on edge, insecure, reactive that is a sign of graves, it has a powerful affect on the mind so .... bear that in mind...... I found downloading relaxing apps and trying to have siesta daily really helps... all the best T.

Hi Tilly83 thanks for sharing your story, I am doing the reverse on dosage of carb, despite what I been told by the endo. Small dosage for a week then increase to 5mg week till my blood test. I am already put on weight without Carb or other thyroid medication. Although my metobolisim rate is 170 normal should be 130. I am your hight and and about your weight. I had changed my whole wardrobe. I don't want to put on any but it doesn't bother me much because health is more important than how I look now. I don't look that bad anyways. I am already start to be active cycling 40 km two Tims a week at fast spped. I just can't let my thyriod probkem get in a way of my happy life. I changed my diet for the pass one year.. No white refine stuff. Sugar is just very bad for thyroid. Taking Brazil nuts every day ect... Most of all I keep a positive mind! Good day ahead!

C.

Hi Chrissy - how on earth do you know what your metabolic rate is I'd love to find mine out...... by the way I did a 10k in May, I love my life (well could do with a bit more cash and a cleaner would be lovely) but apart from that wouldn't change a thing - except the damn thyroid hassle!
